Foot massage   Foot massage is very popular in China now. For a few dollars, you will have a great relaxing experience.

Ear wax removal   You must experience this. You can get the service in many barber shops (and have your nose hairs trimmed too). Just ask your guide.

English corners   English conners are places where Chinese students meet to practice English. People usually meet in a park on Sunday mornings. It is a great place to meet Chinese friends. People will be eager to tell you local history and fun places. Ask your local guide for directions.

City parks  Parks in cities are alive from early in the morning (5:00 am) to late night. People will welcome you to join them to practice Chi Kung, Tai Chi, dancing, singing, or playing chess. Don�t stay too late after dark in the parks, especially if you are in a small group of few than 3 people. Parks become less safe after most people leave.

Public bath house   Public bath houses were common in China, Korea, and Japan not long ago. In areas with hot springs, public bath houses are for travelers. In most other places, they are for locals. Local guides will be needed to get in.

Best local food  Try to spot a wedding dinner. Order the same menu for the wedding. You may also try your luck to invite yourself to the wedding. You might be surprised. If you are allowed to join, don't forget guests are supposed to give the newlywed a nice gift. The simplest gift is cash (more than enough to cover your dinner) wrapped in a red paper or envelop.

Snack street   Almost every city has a snack street. Food usually cost less than $1. Ask your hotel clerk or local guide for directions.
