How to Write Chinese on Computer or on Internet

Stand-alone Software

Stand-alone word processing software are easy to install and easy to use. But be careful on installing Chinese versions of software on non-Chinese operating systems --- there may be system incompatibility. The following software is developed for non-Chinese operating systems.

  • 1. Chinese Partner From TwinBridge
  • 2. NJStar Chinese Word Processor. NJStar also offers NJStar Communicator, which enables users to read/write Chinese in browsers, emails, and Microsoft offices.

Advantages of using these programs are ease of install and use. You may be tempted to try other less well-known software such as Uniedit, Yudit, and Key Software. Please don't. You will save time and money by using the Free Microsoft IME. Microsoft IME is not difficult to install and use, although you do need to spend some time to figure everything out. Microsoft IME is explained in the next section.
